Tired and inspirational pregnant women in isolated villages have to trek for 44 miles (70km) along a frozen river to reach the nearest hospital.
A photographer encountered the exhausted families from Ladakh, in the Himalayan foothills, as they travelled home with their newborns.
Many of the mothers live in towns with no hospital and no doctor, so the women trek for nine days to reach a hospital before the birth, and then make the difficult journey back with their babies.

Tim said: "One day we met this family with a little son and newborn.
"For me it's just incredible, and shows how much help we get in the western world to give birth in comparison - when you saw this little child and baby, how cold they have been, what they have to do."
He added: "Walking over the frozen river and very cold rushing water just a few inches below your feet is terrifying.
"The local people use the river to carry goods for their livelihood and sometimes people die during the dangerous trip."
